There are no words to describe my thankfulness for a great pair of jeans.
Can I get an "amen?"
I was just talking with Rachel over lunch today about jean shopping and the ongoing debate over the skinny jean and whether or not they would make me look like and ice cream cone, and I realized how invaluable a good pair of jeans are to the female wardrobe.
A good pair of jeans can make ANY t-shirt, sweater, tunic, cardigan, tank top and blouse look amazing. Slacks don't do that for you. Pencil skirts come close but who wants to wear a pencil skirt every day? Cargo pants should only be worn for things like fighting in wars, painting a house or repairing bathroom plumbing. Capri pants are not always practical and shorts, well these legs haven't seen a pair of shorts since 1996 so I can't really count on them to do much for me.
So, that leaves us with jeans. What is so often the case is that you find the most fabulous jeans you have ever squeezed into and after you have thoroughly worn them out and are ready for a second pair, they are discontinued.
Oh the humanity.
Of course you can scour eBay and buy them used, which I have done, but nothing can replace those perfect pair of jeans that some big shot, who probably has never had to deal with hips, decides that the women of the world don't need that style anymore. He could not be more wrong and should be fired immediately.
Recently, I was shopping at TJ and found a pair of jeans for $12.99. That's right, $12.99. And when I tried them on, they fit like a glove. A GLOVE, I tell you! It was like the heavens parted and denim-clad angels descended upon my dressing room. It could only be described as miraculous because heaven knows that this figure isn't the easiest one to dress.
And when I got them home, I fell in love with them all over again. So I have therefore worn them everyday for the last 27 days.
Or maybe it's 28. Whatev.
So, what's your favorite pair of jeans right now? Rach had on the cutest pair of skinny ankle jeans with a long cardigan paired with the cutest 3-month old you have ever seen. I MEAN EVER SEEN!
I guess if you don't have a good pair of jeans, just go find a 3-month old and that will make any outfit pop.
i guess that's my problem. i don't have a cutie patotie 3 month old. gosh dang it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the shout out! Can't wait to see you in some skinny jeans with boots! :) Oh, and thanks for thinking that my kiddo is cute. Love you!

Perhaps, in your copious free time, you should scour the local TJ branches and see if you can find a matching pair or two. That way you don't have a problem with one pair wearing out or meeting an untimely puddle of bleach without having a replacement pair. You can't go wrong for $12.99.
ReplyDeleteI am still on a search for a perfect pair - I think since my "baby" is now 12 months old she no longer helps my saggy jeans pop :) Did you see this week's 30 Rock - it will totally make you laugh :)
