The Joy of Painting

Last night, I hung out with my home girl Tara. She is awesome in every way. She is funny and smart and is really great at golf. She also teaches Zumba and gets to host painting parties for her job. And on top of all that coolness, she beat breast cancer last year.

And so did her mom.

Kicking cancer to the curb is just what they do.

In honor of her parent's 40th anniversary, and in celebration of life, Tara hosted a party at Canvas and Cocktails. An instructor teaches everyone how to paint the same picture while you rock out to music and drink the beverage of your choice.

It is a brilliant concept, especially for the painting challenged. Even though I tend to be a bit on the retentive side when it comes to crafts, I had a blast last night! Of course a glass of wine does help get the creative juices flowing.

And I really loved celebrating my friend and the people who brought her into this world.

Here's a look at some of the artwork:

Obviously mine sticks out like a sore thumb but yellow is not my color. And I can't tell you how many times I heard Bob Ross in my head say, "Just like that, Sarah. Draw a happy little twig right there."

I heart Bob Ross.

I have no idea what I will do with it but I'll be happy to sell it to you for $5,000 or best offer. Just let me know if you are interested.

Unfortunately Bob Ross was not in my head because my twigs are seriously deformed! But I am going to try and fix them! But I loved having you there and your painting is awesome!!! PRICELESS!

    I heart you!

  2. LOL - I haven't thought about Bob in a long time. There was just something about him... If he was on tv, I had a hard time looking away. Good times on a Saturday morning, for sure.

  3. why was bob so enticing, I'd flick past and next thing you know a half hour has disappeared into a black hole!

Sarah lets see you frizz your hair into a fro, maybe you could host his replacement show. How's your overly calming speaking tone?

    1. I can provide a photochopped edition to save you the time of fro-ing so you can assess its success ahead of time :D

    2. you've got the skillz, Bob did one very similar!

    3. Mr. Ross - you are so thorough in your research. And I would love to see a photoshopped version of me in an afro. You know, when you have time.

      Many thanks.

  4. How are your circles so perfect?!

    Looks like an awesome night!!

    1. I just put my brush on the canvas and spun the canvas around. No, just kidding! They teach you how to do it. And we made hundreds of them so you get to practice a lot.

      Thanks chica! :)

I have no idea who Bob Ross is, but that's a great picture Sarah! And Tara, what a great idea for a party. I'm sorry, but I don't have $4,500 burning a whole in my pocket at the moment. Unfortunately Sallie Mae took it all.
